Sappi Europe announced a price increase of EUR 50 per ton on its Woodfree Coated (WFC) sheets portfolio, effective 16 March 2026. In a press release Sappi said, "Over the past months, market prices for Woodfree Coated sheets have fallen heavily, driven by weak demand and intense competitive pressure. This decline has pushed selling prices to levels that no longer reflect the underlying cost realities of the industry.

Production in the Vallvik Mill has been affected by an unplanned shutdown due to disturbances in the bleaching plant and the recovery boiler. Repair work is underway and normal production is scheduled for Wednesday 9 May. The shutdown represents an estimated production loss of about 6,000 tonnes corresponding to approximately 6 percent of the Group's total planned production for the quarter.

Finland's industrial, logistics and electrical workers have agreed to extend strikes in protest against planned labour market reforms to a fourth week, the head of trade union association SAK said on Wednesday. The workers have been on strike since March 11, targeting exports, imports and cargo transportation. "The strikes will continue from Monday morning onwards for a week," SAK President Jarkko Eloranta told Reuters. "We are trying to negotiate and compromise with the government but unfortunately there has been no response to these efforts." Several of Finland's largest companies have said the strikes, which are disrupting ports and the rail system, are negatively affecting their operations.
