Quad Strengthens Global Print Platform with Four Heidelberg Speedmasters

Heidelberg USA announced that Quad/Graphics, a global marketing services provider, has recently invested in four new Heidelberg Speedmaster presses to support its commercial, packaging and in-store platforms. The investment reflects Quad/Graphics’ long-standing commitment to using leading-edge technology to help brand owners market their products, services and content more efficiently and effectively through print in combination with other media channels.

Unique Commercial Capabilities
Quad/Graphics’ Dallas location — part of the company’s Commercial & Specialty group, which focuses on short-run and print-on-demand catalogs, case-bound books, direct mail and promotional items — recently purchased a Speedmaster XL 106-8P+L with X4 delivery. This press is the first in the world to be equipped with 3 types of UV capabilities: full UV, LE UV and LED.

The eight-color Heidelberg XL 106 perfector outshines the competition in terms of productivity and efficiency. In fact, users of the XL 106 often produce well over 50 million sheets per year.

Worzalla and Bria Bella & Co., a local women’s apparel store, combined efforts to collect socks for families in need during their “Socktember” campaign. During the month of September, associates at both companies solicited donations of socks to help supply this basic need to families ahead of the winter holidays. More than 500 pairs of socks were collected and donated to the Stevens Point Area School District, where District social workers will distribute to children and families who need them. “If I came across a family who needed anything, from socks to toiletries, I would drop these items off to these families to help them stay warm and healthy,” said Peg Bach, recently retired School Social Worker for Stevens Point Area School District who participated in the campaign. “This donation of socks will keep more than 500 pairs of feet warm this winter, thank you to Worzalla and Bria Bella & Co.”

Allen Press Celebrates Digital Expansion with Community Open House

Allen Press, Inc. will host a community open house on Thursday, November 9, 2017 to celebrate its Digital Production Center grand opening. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is open to the public. A Lawrence Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting ceremony will begin at 11:30 a.m. with remarks from Lawrence City Commission Representative Lisa Larsen and Chamber of Commerce Board member Phil Bradley. GAA Announces Sale of Richardson Communications to Kingston Printing (whattheythink.com)

Kansas City, MO-based Richardson Communications Group, a leading printer in the Midwest for nearly a century, has been acquired by Kingston Printing, Eudora, KS, which recently celebrated its 30th anniversary as a premier, independent commercial printer. Graphic Arts Advisors, LLC (GAA), Mountain Lakes, NJ, a strategic financial advisory and consulting firm devoted exclusively to all sectors of the graphic communications industry, represented Richardson in the transaction. GAA Director Michael Wurst served as lead advisor on the engagement, with Mark Hahn, GAA Senior Managing Director, providing support. John Hyde, Esq., GAA Managing Director, is advising Richardson on the post-sale wind-down and creditor settlement negotiations. Combining Richardson’s customer relationships and capabilities with Kingston’s operations creates a full-service, robust company offering clients a broad spectrum of printing and marketing services. With similarities in terms of 2019 sales volume ($5.2 million for Richardson and $6 million for Kingston) and number of employees (Richardson with 35 and Kingston with 36), the two firms had different areas of specialty and equipment.
