Amcor is proud to collaborate with Stonyfield Organic, the country’s leading organic yogurt maker, and Cheer Pack North America, a leading manufacturer of spouted pouch packaging, to launch the first all-polyethylene (PE) spouted pouch. The collaboration pairs three leaders in sustainability to innovate a first-to-market solution that provides a more sustainable package without compromise on performance. The new innovative pouch replaces Stonyfield Organic’s prior multi-laminate structure with a more responsible pouch design for its YoBaby refrigerated yogurt. The new pouch uses Amcor’s AmPrima® Plus, an all-PE film that is designed to meet the APR Design® Guide for recyclability, and Cheer Pack North America’s Vizi™ cap. The package removes the metallized or foil-based film layers commonly found in standard pouch structures, while still providing superior heat resistance to allow for spout insertion. With the inclusion of the Cheer Pack North America Vizi™ cap, the amount of plastic used is reduced by over five tons per 10mm caps.

Mondi is supplying zooplus with a pre-made FlexiBag Recyclable and BarrierPack Recyclable form-fill-and-seal (FFS) reel material, which are both certified recyclable by the Institute cyclos HTP which specialises in the classification, assessment and certification of recyclability of packaging. While seeking greater recyclability for its packaging, the online retailer was not willing to compromise on any performance properties, including barrier protection, or aesthetics. Mondi’s materials provide all the necessary barrier properties to protect against the unwanted transmission of moisture, oxygen and odours with a high premium look and feel. Mondi’s expertise made it possible to maintain the desired aesthetics on the packaging, so that the previously metallised highlights on the label and in the eyes of the wolf are also recyclable.

Total boxboard production increased 2.4 percent when compared to February 2017, but decreased 4.8 percent from last month. Unbleached Kraft Boxboard production increased over the same month a year ago, but decreased compared to last month. Total Solid Bleached Boxboard & Liner production increased when compared to February 2017 and increased compared to last month. The production of Recycled Boxboard decreased compared to February 2017 and decreased when compared to last month.
