EU Parliament votes in favor of 1-year delay for EUDR

RISI/Fastmarkets reports that The European Parliament has approved the Commission’s proposal to simplify the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) and voted in favor of a one-year delay for all companies, in line with the position expressed by the Council on November 19.

According to the amended text, the entry into force would be postponed to December 30, 2026 for large operators and to June 30, 2027 for micro- and small enterprises.

The EU Parliament also requested the Commission to carry out a simplification review of the EUDR by April 30, 2026 to assess the law’s impact and administrative burden.

The approved text was adopted by 402 votes to 250 and with 8 abstentions.

“Parliament is now ready to start negotiations with member states on the final shape of the law, which has to be endorsed by both Parliament and the Council and published in the EU Official Journal before the end of 2025, for the one-year delay to enter into force,” the EU Parliament said in a statement on November 26.
