International Paper to Close Two U.S. Packaging Plants

International Paper will close two packaging facilities in Compton, California, and Louisville, Kentucky, as part of its strategy to streamline its North American footprint.

The company announced that both sites will cease operations by January 2026, with customer orders redirected to nearby locations.

The closures will affect 125 employees in Compton and 93 in Louisville. International Paper stated that it will work to reduce the impact through attrition, retirements and open positions at other company sites. Affected employees will receive outplacement services, mental health support and severance packages.
