A collaborative effort between Sappi, MaBe and Kegelmann Technik GmbH from Rodgau-Jügesheim has culminated in the development of a biobased alternative for an injection moulding birdfeed-adapter. This development used the expertise of all partners. MaBe a German based company focused on upcycling and sustainability, sells lanterns made from recycled soda bottles. With recent innovation and adapters, these lanterns could now be used for bird-feeding devices. Partnering with Kegelmann Technik GmbH from Rodgau-Jügesheim, experts in the field of material composite formulations, these adapters were produced efficiently from more sustainable material. Instead of regular plastic, a natural fibre composite material was proposed. Sappi Symbio provided that alternative being a highly resistant, biocomposite cellulose fibre derived from responsibly managed renewable forests. This partnership has reflected the need for developing mutually beneficial, value adding products that could be recycled. This places a shared responsibility to move toward a sustainable future and recognise it is work that cannot be done alone.

According to the report, total printing-writing paper shipments increased 3% in December compared to December 2023. U.S. purchases of total printing-writing papers increased 1% in November compared to the same month last year. Total printing-writing paper inventory levels remained essentially flat (+0.2%) when compared to November 2024. November year-to-date (YTD) total U.S. net imports grew 13% compared to the same period last year. UFS and CFS net imports increased by 17% and 60% YTD, respectively. MECH shipments however, increased by just 1% YTD.

Lecta expands its line of Termax thermal products and launches its two new high-quality grades of Termax top-coated thermal paper on the market, Termax TC20X and Termax TC20XB, for a wide variety of self-adhesive labels. The two new grades of paper in this product line are made to be used as adhesive facestock for food and industrial label applications in which there may be adverse conditions such as moisture, grease or solvents. Both products are highly resistant to grease, water, solvents, scratching and plasticizers, and are therefore an excellent solution to these problems. In addition to excellent chemical and environmental resistance, Termax TC20X and TC20XB papers provide high image resolution, good temperature resistance, high sensitivity, and both are phenol-free. The TC20XB also has a protective layer on the back to protect the label when used with more demanding adhesives.
