CPI UK acquired by GV Group

CPI Books and CPI Antony Rowe have been acquired by SoFiGraf, the holding company of the Franceschi family, through its subsidiary GV Group.

The British book printing companies, which together employ just over 900 people, were acquired following an international competitive bidding process and six months of “lengthy and demanding negotiations”.

GV said the deal, which closed at the end of yesterday (13 October), nearly doubles the size of the group.

“We worked with determination to acquire the companies we considered strategically important to our industrial development plans,” said Fabio Franceschi, chairman of SoFiGraf.

“CPI Books and CPI Antony Rowe bring valuable expertise, people and relationships to the group. Their integration into our Italian-American platform marks the beginning of a new phase of growth, from which we expect significant results.”

Between them, CPI Books and CPI Antony Rowe generate around €150m (£127m) turnover and produce more than 100 million books annually.
