UPM and the Paperworkers’ Union have agreed on first-ever business-specific collective labour agreements for five UPM businesses. The strike at UPM mills in Finland will end immediately and employees will return to work. The strike covered UPM Pulp, UPM Communication Papers, UPM Specialty Papers, UPM Raflatac and UPM Biofuels units in Finland. UPM will restart customer deliveries as soon as possible. The conciliator submitted settlement proposals for separate collective labour agreements for UPM Pulp, UPM Communication Papers, UPM Specialty Papers, UPM Raflatac ja UPM Biofuels yesterday, and both parties approved them on April 22, 2022.

New Force Magnetics and Master Magnetics, Inc. − a Colorado company − were acquired by a newly formed investment company now known as Master Magnetics Inc (a Delaware corporation) on April 1, 2024. Beginning on April 22, 2024, New Force Magnetics will operate as a new business unit under Master Magnetics Inc. Katie Fink will continue to provide the same level of customer service to which you are accustomed, operating under her new title, New Force Business Unit Manager. Jack Nellessen continues his employment with the company Chief R & D Strategist. Our new product offerings will expand to include not only the current flexible magnetics sheeting and strip and magnetic receptive products, but an entire array of neodymium, ceramic, ALNICO, and samarium cobalt magnets and magnetic assemblies for consumer, commercial and industrial use.

Domtar is joining forces with Boisaco and the Centre de recherche sur la boréalie (CREB) of the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi (UQAC) to support leading-edge research projects that will address the challenge of managing Quebec’s forests sustainably. The research partnership will allocate $430,000 annually over five years, totaling $2.15 million, with Domtar, owned by investor Jackson Wijaya, providing $350,000. UQAC’s research projects focus on a number of critical themes, such as climate change adaptation, biodiversity, carbon management and forest ecosystem regeneration. These initiatives aim to advance Quebec’s scientific knowledge and improve sustainable forest management practices. Since 2016, CREB has brought together 25 research professors from UQAC to address issues related to renewable resources in the boreal environment.
