Nowhere is the power of brand more obvious than in the water category

Jimmy Kimmel Live‘s team proved it again last week, pouring cups of Erewhon‘s new $12 “sacred water” in LA. People swirled it, noting notes of nutmeg, a clean mineral finish, a little tingle of energy… one guy asked if water this good was even legal. It was hose water. From the parking lot behind the studio. And now the internet is going wild in the comments section. I’ve seen a lot of blind taste tests in my years working with CPG brands, and the results (still) always surprise me. The product is identical across every player in this category. The gap between a $12 cup and the hose is marketing. Nobody in that clip was lying; the water genuinely tasted better to them because the cup told them it would. That’s the power of marketing (and placebo). Stay hydrated, brand builders💧
