Why You Should Support the PACK Act
- Why consistent national standards for recyclable, compostable, and reusable claims matter
- What this might mean for more packaging-related federal laws, such as extended producer responsibility (EPR) legislation
- What the packaging industry should keep an eye out for as the bill moves through Congress.
Two critical pieces in the current version of the PACK Act must remain:
1. The PACK Act would stop additional states or new states — any state — from having different language related to recyclable, compostable, and reusable claims.
2. If a company chooses to use recyclable, compostable, or reusable claims, they will need third-party certification to substantiate that claim.
