European publication paper market has overcapacity in the magazine paper segment

Despite the capacity reductions carried out in the second half of 2025, there is still excess capacity in the European market for publication paper, especially in the magazine paper segment. While producers report relatively good capacity utilisation for newsprint (standard and improved grades), the existing production capacity for SC and LWC/MWC paper continues to outstrip demand. For all grades, the gap between supply and demand is expected to widen over the course of the year

Hasbro, Mattel signal retail orders to bounce back for the holidays

The companies are expecting a strong finish to the year after delays in purchasing weighed on company revenues. Hasbro is also leveraging its U.S. operations and moving away from China. Toy makers Hasbro and Mattel faced challenges from delays in retail orders during the third quarter, but are starting to see early signs of a bounce back for the holiday season. Orders have “accelerated significantly” since the beginning of the month, Mattel CEO Ynon Kreiz said in an earnings call Oct. 21. Prior to that, delays in ordering patterns weighed on the company’s Q3 sales, which were $1.7 billion, down 6% from last year. Meanwhile, Hasbro has seen sales momentum build over “probably the last seven to eight weeks,” CEO Chris Cocks said in a separate earnings call. Excluding growth from its Wizards of the Coast brand and digital gaming, Hasbro’s consumer products revenue declined 7% YoY and operating profit fell 32%.

Axel Springer CEO Tells Staff They Only Have To Explain If They Didn’t Use AI

Axel Springer, owner of Politico, Politico, Business Insider, Bild and Welt, is going all in on AI.  “Nobody in the company has to explain in the company why she or he is using AI to do something — whether to prepare a presentation or analyze a document,” said CEO Mathias Döpfner during an hour-long all-employee meeting last week, Status reports.. “You only have to explain if you didn’t use AI. That’s really something you have to explain because that shouldn’t happen.” Döpfner also lauded the development of AI.   “I tell you, what is happening at the moment with regard to technology is the biggest change in modern civilization,” The first wave of internet is nothing against these developments.”
