UPM has been included among the leading companies and as the only company in its sector in the Dow Jones World and European Sustainability Indices (DJSI) for 2025–2026, placing it among the world’s most rigorously assessed sustainability leaders for several years in a row.

The DJSI evaluates thousands of the world’s largest companies based on environmental, social and governance performance. Companies are evaluated through S&P Global’s Corporate Sustainability Assessment, and only the top-ranked in each industry are selected for inclusion.

Interfor Resumes Operations at Grand Forks Sawmill

Interfor Corporation announced that it has resumed operations at its sawmill in Grand Forks, BC following severe flooding in the area over the past two weeks. The sawmill was temporarily curtailed on May 10, 2018 as a precautionary measure due to the escalating flooding in the region. Even though the sawmill was not operating during this time, a series of measures were taken by mill personnel to protect the operation against potential damage. Fortunately, such actions limited the risk to the mill’s infrastructure and equipment and has allowed the mill to resume operations now that the water level has receded. There are ongoing issues in the region related to rail line damage and the Company will be working with its carriers and customers to manage through the related logistics issues. Cascades Tissue Group Wisconsin wins energy award with ANDRITZ technology

International technology Group ANDRITZ recently completed successful replacement and start-up of the PM5 Yankee hood at Cascades Tissue Group’s tissue mill in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA. The ANDRITZ PrimeDry Hood is specially designed for low energy consumption and long durability. With this upgrade, production output of the PM5 – a medium-speed tissue machine for dry-crepe tissue with a 12 ft. Yankee – has increased remarkably while reducing specific gas consumption by the hood. Due to the energy savings achieved, Cascades Tissue Group Wisconsin was awarded the 2020 Energy Efficiency Excellence Award by FOCUS ON ENERGY®, Wisconsin’s energy efficiency and renewable energy resources program. This program encompasses 107 utilities across the state, with the goal of providing expertise and financial incentives to residents and businesses to reduce energy consumption or increase energy efficiency.

UPM Interim Report Q3 2024:Comparable EBIT +32% from last year in a challenging market

Massimo Reynaudo, President and CEO, comments on the results: "Our Q3 results improved both year-on-year and quarter-on-quarter, with a significant contribution from the fully ramped-up UPM Paso de los Toros pulp mill. The earnings improvement, albeit good, was lower than earlier expected as the market demand of our products slowed down after the encouraging start of the year. We took measures in several of our businesses to safeguard profitability and we continue to take decisive actions to ensure the competitiveness of our businesses and support our growth ambitions. Our Q3 sales were EUR 2,521 million and our comparable EBIT increased by 32% to EUR 291 million. Our net debt was EUR 2,804 million, 1.59 times EBITDA. Cash funds and unused committed credit facilities totalled at EUR 3.7 billion at the end of the quarter, following the successful issuance of our fourth Green Bond, for EUR 600 million, in August."
