LSC Communications has acquired TriLiteral LLC, a full-service logistics provider specializing in the distribution of books for University Presses and Academic Publishers. Quad acquired the co-mailing assets of LSC Communications-MCL LLC or MCL, a third-party co-mail and co-mail logistics solutions provider doing business as “Enru.” The transaction included all MCL co-mail related manufacturing assets, technology and its commercial book of business. It did not include the logistics portion of the business. Quad believes integrating MCL’s co-mailing capabilities into its robust platform of existing postal solutions will benefit the company, its clients and the entire print industry. Quad and MCL have historically used different co-mailing approaches to limit clients’ postal costs, both of which provide unique strengths and generate substantial USPS worksharing discounts. By unifying these strategies under Quad, the company can use its proprietary data stack to determine the best approach to fulfill a client’s needs. Combining Quad and MCL’s co-mailing volumes will also help to realize greater potential USPS workshare discounts, which is key to offsetting rising postal rate increases and keeping print a viable channel in the marketing mix.
