Sun Chemical’s SunTronic® IME inks are approved for production use in IMSE parts after passing the demanding materials testing program from TactoTek®, a Finland-based company that develops, industrializes and licenses in-mold structural electronics (IMSE™) technology. IMSE parts integrate printed electronics and electronic components within 3D injection molded plastics. They combine structure, electronic functions, and aesthetics in single piece, seamless smart surfaces. In IMSE parts, printed electronics can create many features, including circuitry, capacitive touch controls, proximity sensors and antennas. IMSE parts rely on printed silver-based conductive inks and dielectrics to enable multiple layers of printed electronics. “TactoTek is committed to delivering IMSE technology that is predictable, reliably mass produced and performs well through a lifetime of use,” said Paavo Niskala, SVP Advanced Engineering at TactoTek. “IMSE combines diverse materials into a single integrated materials stack, so those materials must be chemically compatible and maintain their electrical integrity through IMSE processing, including thermoforming and injection molding.

CJK Group, Inc. announced that an agreement has been completed to acquire the business of Worzalla in Stevens Point, WI. This acquisition will bring additional capacity to our Sheridan division’s printing operations and the facility will be renamed Sheridan Worzalla. “Worzalla has a tremendous market reputation and a well-defined niche in the Children’s and Trade book publishing markets,” remarked Chris Kurtzman, CEO of CJK Group. “The addition of the Worzalla operation expands the spectrum of printing services for Sheridan’s clients, nicely augmenting our current strengths in the Trade, Education, Academic, Religious, and Automotive publishing markets.” The newly named Sheridan Worzalla facility is now the third Sheridan location in Wisconsin. Founded in 1892, Worzalla has over 130 years of experience in creating high-quality books for publishers around the world. The operation is housed in a 365,000 square foot facility and employs approximately 340 employees.

Goss International’s printing press business and manroland web systems, both manufacturers and service providers of web offset printing systems for newspapers, commercial products and packaging, are planning to combine their complementary businesses. The combined company will benefit from the companies’ complementary geographic footprints, create extensive synergies, ensure long-term viability, and provide value-oriented solutions, especially in the area of aftermarket services. In the future, the new entity will be a strong business partner to all international web printers. Subject to regulatory approval, the merger is expected to be completed by the middle of 2018.
